E2 Successfully Completes EPC Projects for Electric Utility

Recently, E2 completed an EPC (Engineer, Procure, Construct) project to restore critical power to a portion of the California Sierra Nevada mountain range after the Caldor fire damaged infrastructure in that area. We successfully restored power on-time and on-budget while also instituting Fire Risk Mitigation best practices.

  • Engineering: E2 performed the civil and electrical engineering across terrain that included 1,600’ of elevation gain through wilderness terrain, starting at 6,500’ and crossing a highway.
  • Procurement: We identified and procured fire resistant materials to meet a 3-week delivery lead-time and deliver best cost – despite significant supply chain hurdles.
  • Construction: Our team executed permitting, obtained traffic control, and managed excavation/construction for successful project delivery.

Given the terrain, and circumstances (fire response), this project was challenging. In particular, it was critical that we beat the oncoming winter season. We were successful in this regard, grateful to our customer for the opportunity, and proud of what was accomplished by our team and our partners.
